Jury

In my opinion, I think that the voting should be changed to a vote of 10 to 2 because that would make trials go easier and we csn surpass all of the thick- headed people who don't agree with them no matter what. I think it is good for justice, because then if the two people really wants to have a voice, they don't have to be by themselves to make the point. I think that jurors can keep their cell phones because they have the right to keep them and they should know to restrain themselves from searching.

Congressional Earmarks

Congressional earmarks are projects that congressmen and congresswomen fund by the government, but not relevent to the entire country itself. The earmarks made by individual congressmen usually benefit only the states they are representing. Earmarks upset many Americans because some of the projects have nothing to do with anything if they are in different states, so it is a waste of money that could be spent on more important issues. The one that is completely obsurd and has nothing to do with the entire country would be the sex life of Japanese quail, this has absolutely nothing to to with any of yhe states ormeven the country, since they are quail from Japan. I think that this will not help the country in any way, so we just wasted money. To help keep track of the money being spent, we should have a overseeing committee of civilians who keeps track and judges if they will help the country or not.

Filibuster

A filibuster occurs when a senator refuses to give up the floor and prevents roll call! It provides a way for a senator's voice to be heard. A filibuster also gives a lot of power to the senator, they can maximize their leverage with congressmen and the president. I see a filibuster being a good thing if the senator is going for a cause worth following, and he or she knows that the public will back them up if they try to argue the case. A filibuster is also not a good feature because it slows down the interworkings of the governemnt, and other important duties of the other senators cannot be achieved while a filibuster is taking place. I think we should keep the filibuster because it is a right of the american people of freedom of speech, and if someone feels that passionate about something that they will talk hours on end about it, then I think they have the right to do so.

Capital punishment in Michigan

I agree with not having the capital punishment in Michigan, for example it would cost a lot, and we already don't have the money for that in our state. I think hiwever that for very specific circumstances a person should be put on death row, and should be executed for actions above all measures. I think that the methods of which some of the states use are cruel and unusual, but I think states can keep the ones they want, because if a person doesn't want to be put on the death penalty, then they either move to a different state or not commit the crime!

Search and Seizure amendment

I think that school officials can search your stuff only if it is for breaking another law and they know that a certain person possess a stolen or illegal object, or commited a crime that they can 100% completely confirm that that person was one who commited the crime. I think that airport security is not a violation for your right because they are trying to protect everyone on the plane, so they are trying to save lives. In my opinion, I think it is fine if airport security can search me, because then I know that nobody else can get on a plane with anything that could potentially hurt myself and other passengers.

Freedom of Religion

When I think of the first amendment, it is filled with the most important and crucial rights for an american citizen. I think that the seperation from church and state is needed inside the government for many reasons. For example if canidates of different religions run for office, people who have the same religion will vote for him, and not necessarily what the canidate's political views are. I also think that it would effect how someone thinks according to their religion, and rights may side to other people's religions. The limits placed on religion is that you have a hard time expressing your religion to the public, and you can be an extremists.
I think that these are fair because other people may make judgments in you based on your religion. Right now, we are shunning the arabs and the entire muslim religion because of what some extremists did to the country, and we are making judgements on all muslims, when it should be a freedom of religion unless you are an extremist.

Freedom of Speech

As I think about what a person can and cannot say under the first amendment, I think that there should be some amount of restriction to what people can say in the public. I think that profanity should be restricted unless it is for a reason related to striking or a political unrest. I think that we should have restrictions only incartain cases because sometimes profanity is completely uncalled for and needs to be stopped. These limits would take place in the public if the person is talking to a large group of people, that person should not use profanity. I think that at a young age people don't know how harsh profanity can be, so by the time you are an adult there should be no excuse for the use of harsh language.
